Welcome to St. Augustine!!

At the last minute, Kelli & Scott decided to come up a bit early too. They drove up on Friday night and got a hotel in St. Augustine. Kelli had called me on Wednesday night and said there was a 5K in St. Augustine and did I want to run it with her? Of course I said yes, and they changed their plans to come up a day early. When we all talked about it on Friday night, we discovered the race was farther away than we thought and it would be too much of an inconvenience on the rest of the family. So we instead had breakfast and then all toured St. Augustine for a little bit!

We were SO excited to see Joseph again! Callie immediately said "Joe, jump like me!" (I had told her that he didn't know how to jump and she could teach him - and she did!) What did Joe do? He jumped of course!!! :)
These two boys are so cute together! They happened to both be in red shirts and just LOVE each other so much!
On our way out of the visitors center, we saw these cool fountains...and I knew I had three more faces that would blend right in!
Six months ago when we first booked our house and began planning this trip, Josiah overheard me talking about it and was very excited to get to go see St. Augustine. He had learned about it in school and knew about the fort and the fact that it was the oldest city in our country!
It was very cool to be able to walk around and see something from 400 years ago!
We arrived at the fort about 20 minutes before the cannons were set to be fired - how cool is that?
Caleb is not a huge fan of loud noises.
It made me very nervous having the kids sitting up on that wall thing...but David was up there, and Kelli was very nearby...
Yep, made me VERY nervous with David holding Caleb up there!
Waiting for the boom - and it was a HUGE boom! Very cool!
We loved touring around the fort and seeing the living quarters.

Joseph and Tutu playing "peek a boo" in one of the old cannons.
I have no idea why Callie was pitching such a fit about taking this picture...she was totally fine the rest of the time. Guess this won't be our Christmas card picture!!
When we got up to where the cannons were fired, Caleb immediately put his hands back on his ears!

Callie was pointing to where the gunpowder was and saying "that stinks!!"

Looking out across the water towards the lighthouse...

Callie said that this was NOT rapunzel's tower!!
We had lunch at this little bitty place and the kids entertained themselves in the window until we finished up. Then we loaded back up in our cars because it was time to check into our vacation house!!!
