Family Vacation 2010 - The Mountain House

Oh, some much needed rest. It's been quite a year here in the Schrodt family. After a super busy and exciting year, we were in much need of some time alone as a family. We were able to rent a house up in the mountains of NC and get away for a week - and it was JUST what we needed!!
We left Friday morning to drive up to North Carolina. We stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch (and a little rocking :) ).

After lunch, Daddy even surprised the kids with a bag of pop rocks candy! :) Love that stuff - it cracks me up! Cracker Barrel has the most fun candy - all that old-fashioned stuff is the best!
It was such a beautiful drive through the mountains. I was thankful that none of my kids get car sick, as we literally were driving THROUGH the mountains for the last hour of the trip. Once we arrived at the house, the kids enjoying running through the house to see all the rooms. David and I headed out to the porch to see the view - and oh, what a view we had!
We knew right away that if we were at the house, we'd be out here on this porch taking in all of God's creation around us. It was AWEsome.
Callie was happy to indulge David in some posing by the mountains...

Oh this girl just kills me :) She's been very challenging with discipline lately, but when she is cute, I could just eat her up!!!

We were probably 5-10 minutes late on the sunset that night, but were able to catch the last little bit. It was such a breath of fresh air to be out of all the noise and busyness. Tucked away in the midst of some of God's most glorious creation. Just my sweet husband and precious kids. Perfect.
