We are in "finish everything on our summer list" mode around here. Summer has gone by WAY too quickly - I knew that I would feel this way once vacation was over - that it was going to feel like school was just RIGHT around the corner. So we've got about 7 or 8 things still left on our list and we are on a mission to complete them!!! Blueberry picking was our agenda this morning!!
I was so excited not to take a stroller out into the fields this year! Caleb was big enough to carry his own bucket and do his own picking - and he did GREAT!! :)
Jacob was the best picker - very diligent and got the MOST berries for sure!
I think Josiah ate more than he picked. The farmer told us we could eat as many as we wanted out in the field - just don't throw any berries. Josiah decided to take him up on that...and seriously ate probably a pound of them.
My kids LOVE fresh blueberries. They don't eat a whole bunch of them when I buy them from the store, but they say that when we pick them, they are SO much more delicious. I'm sure they are a bit sweeter, but I think it's the experience that they love so much! :)
Callie did a good job picking as well. And then she faded and declared she was just ready to go swimming (we had our suits on and were going to go as soon as we were done).
The great thing about blueberries is that there are millions of berries all around you - so you can almost stand in one place and get a TON!! We only stayed about 15 minutes - got 6 lbs worth (for $6!!!) and then decided we were done!
Success!!! :)
