We left early Saturday morning to begin the long drive home. It went wonderfully though - the kids were really incredible in the car! We left a little before 4 AM, stopped once for breakfast around 8:45 AM, again for gas at 3:30 PM, and then were home by 6:30 PM that night. We were shocked that we only made 2 stops on a 15 hour drive -they were great. It worked out so well - we were so proud of them. It was nice getting home before it was too late - especially since we had church early the next morning. It felt good to be in our own beds.
After putting the boys in their beds that night, this is how we found them a little later. While they were at Kelli's house, they slept in a double bed in her guest room. I suppose they got used to sleeping together, because they ended up in our bed together! It was sweet!
Here's a picture of David's feet - the picture doesn't really do it justice. Can you see the big blisters in the middle of his feet? Sort of where the arch begins. He STILL has the blisters, 1.5 weeks later. It was bad!
It really was a wonderful vacation. So relaxing and restful for us. Wonderful to be alone together as a couple and have the time and freedom to talk uninterrupted, or to be quiet, or to read. We so enjoyed it. It was a tremendous gift that Kelli & Scott gave us by keeping our kids for us...one we can't wait to repay in the future. A few of my favorite things were the getting dressed up for dinners and running together (this was AWESOME - even though David is so much faster than me and it was HARD). it was a GREAt 2nd honeymoon!

I love the picture of the boys sleeping together. Very sweet! Ryan's had one of those blisters on his foot before. Absolutely nasty. He got his from running when he went from running two miles to six in a short period of time.
Yeah - very cool trip and so well needed and deserved. Glad it was marvelous except for blisters - I hate Hot Sand like that. Glad everyone has recooped and is getting back to normal!
