We're on our way to DC! Mom bought the kids all patriotic shirts (we USUALLY all have matching Old Navy flag shirts, but this year the company decided not to sell them. WHAT?!?!) Luke & Josiah matched...
...and John and Jacob matched. They were too busy looking out the windows of the metro to pose though.
Riding the metro on our way down...
Once we got downtown, we were just in time to sit, have our lunch, and watch the parade go by!
Matthew and Callie really did great - it was quite a big day!
Mom and almost all of the grandkids (Mary was with her dad on a tour of the capital...) And my apologies for Josiah - he was throwing a fit about who knows what and didn't want to take a picture. Good grief!

Josiah and Jacob on the carousel
Luke, John, Callie, and me on the carousel. Callie started signing "all done" about half-way through the ride. Maybe she won't like these "dizzy" kinds of rides! Just like her daddy, I suppose!
Mary & Kristen in front of the monument
Kristen was so patient. Once we found our spot, we settled in to wait for the fireworks to start. Callie walked up and down the street just following the lines on the pavement - it was pretty funny!

It sprinkled a few times in the afternoon, and we had one period of pretty heavy rain when we were in one of the museums. I tried to rally the troops and tell them it would blow over and that we could stick it out. Luckily, they agreed and the rain passed and we saw an incredible fireworks display in our nation's capital! It was beautiful!
Matthew slept through the whole thing, of course!
Here are the boy cousins - using the "force" on the fireworks! Mom had gotten them all glowsticks, so they were absolutely fit to be tied!
