A Clean Bill of Health

So most of you know that David has been training for the Rock & Roll Half Marathon. It's less than 2 weeks away now, and he is SO ready! He has worked so hard this summer and has been so disciplined with his training...even in the crazy summer heat! He's lost more than 25 pounds, and has dropped several sizes in both pants and shirts. We've had to buy him a whole new wardrobe! I have been so proud of him - and it's been fun to have a new hobby that was foreign to both of us that now we can share. This new lifestyle is really completely different from the way he was raised. While he was always involved in sports and athletics growing up, his parents were much older when he was born, so they were not an active family. Living in the south, their eating habits were not the best either. David changed alot of these habits when we met and were married, but this level of exercise has been totally new for both of us. I am SO proud of him. His race is August 31, and he's going to totally ROCK it, I'm sure. He'll just be happy to beat my time, I'm sure! :)

He had gone to the doctor at the beginning of the summer to have a physical done. He had been having some lower back pain, and had a kidney stone in the spring, so it was time to have all his bloodwork and levels checked out. He had been pretty healthy, but he had some cholesterol numbers that were pretty high. He told his doctor at that time that he was getting ready to train for this half-marathon, and so he scheduled an appointment to come back 3 months later to see if the levels had gone down in order to avoid medication. Well, David's appointment was Monday, and he passed with flying colors! His doctor was so proud and quite amazed at David's progress, and how well he has gotten himself into such great shape. He said he definitely has a "runner's heartbeat" - I wonder if my doctor would say that, and all of his numbers are back down into the normal range. I'm SO proud of him for all his hard work!!! And he's even MORE of a hottie now! :) Way to go David!

That's awesome. I wouldn't have thought he had 25 pounds to lose. Isn't it amazing how changing a few things can make such a difference in those levels. Way to go for both of you!
