On Wednesday morning I dropped off a VERY excited and slightly nervous Josiah for his very first overnight camp! Our church was taking the group a little more than an hour away to a Christian camp/conference center site, and it was for 3 days and 2 nights - just the right length of time in my opinion!!
He was much more excited than I thought he'd be. He tends to be my cautious one, but was really excited about this (probably mostly because of the shaving cream fight that was on the agenda!) It was largely unknown to us since we had never been before - but Josiah really wanted to go and I knew he'd be in great hands with our children's pastor and his family as well as the other leaders that were going as well.
Here's the whole crew - they had a great group of kids that were going (completed 1st through 5th graders) and had a wonderful time! The theme was "B.O.O.T Camp - Biblical Outreach and Outlook Training". Each camper got a camo shirt (green camo for boys and pink camo for girls) and dog tags with their name, Kidz Kamp 2011, and their theme verse for camp on it.
Josiah said he can't wait to go back next year (and Jacob is SUPER excited that he'll be old enough to go too!). He was pretty much a zombie when he came home last night - and rather cranky. He said lights out time each night was 10:45 pm - which is only about 3 hours past his normal bed time, so I knew he was exhausted!!! :) He got in bed last night at a normal time (after a thorough scrubbing in the shower) and he was much more chipper this morning! :) We're glad to have him home! We missed him!
