A BUGGY Morning

I'm taking a break after posting all the pictures from the party...the race pictures are going to have to wait until tonight to be posted. But it's been quite the INSECT-Y morning. Look at what we found today!
This spider (and egg sac??) was behind our back door this morning! Those of you with more knowledge than me can investigate and tell me about how deadly this spider is or something!)

And this is what Callie discovered on the dashboard of our van when we went to pick up Josiah! EWW!!!

EWWW>...that spider does not look like something I would want to meet behind a door especially with an egg sack...yuck!

Excited to see your spider picture! We recently researched the same spider. It is a completely harmless yellow garden spider. Your picture is of a female (very pretty yellow and black) and an egg sac. The mom will die and the egg sac is full of live spiders that will come out in the spring if left alone. They are very helpful as they will eat all mosquitoes and yucky things. We found one and its egg sac and of course we had to research. Should have some beautiful spiders come spring.
Sophia (my in-house entomologist) loved your picture!!
april :-)
look up "yellow spider virginia" on google

Aack!! I would have FLIPPED!! Glad to hear it is harmless, but it would still give me the "Heebie Jeebies" to see it up close. It is pretty though (for a spider:). I have been known to let spider webs remain in the corners of our patio (as long as they're not right above the door and we're running into them). They do keep the mosquitos at bay:)

Hi! I am a friend of Judy Chattertons and happened across your blog. I have found it interesting how similiar our families our with kids. We have 2 boys and a girl. They are 4 1/2, 3 1/2 and 1 1/2. Pics. of Callie remind me of my Addie. I'm also a former athlete that has been considering getting into running to have something competitive to do. I often have thought about writing a comment, but thought it silly since I don't know you. However when I saw the post about the spider, I decided I had to leave a comment. You can read about our same type of spider on our blog- theshaulls.blogspot.com
