Another Tooth Bites the Dust

Well, I hope not anyways. Jacob slipped this afternoon and fell right smack on his face. Poor kid. I thought he just busted his lip, but when he woke up from his LONGGGGGGG nap, he said his lip felt better, but he teeth still hurt. I finally got a good look at his top teeth, and there's a little bit of blood up at the gumline, and one of them feels wiggly to me. Perhaps my imagination, but he said it hurt when I wiggled it. So it's off to see the dentist tomorrow. It's not cracked or anything, but gotta be safe rather than sorry.

Josiah fell on his face probably a dozen times before he was two. He chipped both of his front teeth, and one of them now is discolored because of the amount of "trauma" that he has put them through. Thankfully there was no permanent damage, and it's loose anyways and should be falling out soon.

Good grief - these boys and their injuries!

I guess that boys really will be boys! It seems like Jackson gets another bruise on his head every other day!

Definitely good to get it checked by a DENTIST, not a pediatrician. They don't specialize in teeth, as I learned the hard way.
Christian fell and hit his front tooth when he was 1 1/2. I noticed some slight discoloration and didn't think much of it. Neither did the pediatrician. Six months later he got this huge sore on his gum right by that tooth. The pediatrician put him on an antibiotic, and that didn't do anything. Finally we went to the dentist. The tooth had died and the whole root was infected. He had it pulled two days later and they are hoping that the infection didn't damage his permanent tooth. I guess we'll have to wait until he's about 8 to know for sure. A hard lesson to learn. We also didn't have dental insurance on Christian at that age b/c we thought it would be awhile before he would need it. That was an expensive mistake. The tooth fairy didn't show up for that tooth because she has already spent over $500 on it :)

Grayson has fallen more times than we care to count. Good thing those teeth aren't permanent!! Best to get the gums checked out though-he must have taken quite the fall!!!

Katie, I am so glad you are back in blogger land!!! I have missed hearing your stories and updates...even the ones about laundry and such. This is my only way to feel connected with you ladies while I am at work, and I love all the details...exciting and normal day stuff. Needless to say, I have missed you!!! And I hope that Jacobs teeth are okay. Poor kid!

Poor thing! Little known fact, if a tooth gets knocked out, put in a cup with milk and take with you to the dentist...sometimes they can reinsert it...I learned that when I was in Dental Hygiene school.
