Did I mention we like games?

Some future bankers here? Both boys loved playing Callie's new cash register that she got from Tutu....just don't let Callie see!
Got my blanket back!!! We left it at Kelli's house when we arrived on Saturday morning. Caleb took a nap that day in Joseph's crib, and when we packed up for th timeshare, we left it there. It was a VERY sad first night....Caleb cried and cried. Gave him a towel, but he's no dummy! Finally, Kristen was able to stop by Kelli's house on her way back from work and pick up Caleb's blanket for him. He was a VERY happy boy!!! :)

We decided that everyone needed to take a nap today. We've had so much fun during the day and staying up later at nights, so they were overdo. Jacob decided he wanted to take his nap on the balcony, and I said okay. He really did sleep! Looked like a homeless man, but he had a good nap! :)
David gave Chris some rubik's cube advice (Mom got the 4 sons-in-law a rubik's cube...David's the only one that knows how to solve it, so he was giving lessons :) )

another round of disney cranium anyone? :)
a little popcorn snack on the floor...
Chris and Caleb
After seeing signs around the property for tennis, We thought it would be fun to take the kids to play tennis for a bit before dinner. We went down to guest services to borrow the racquets and balls and they informed us that we had to rent them. Like a security deposit kind of thing. $10 per racquet. Oh, and they only take cash. How about the credit card that we put down when we checked in? Nope. How about since it's just a HOLD unless we don't return something, you just hold a credit card number. Finally after going round and round with some...ahem...intelligence-challeged front desk people....we convinced them to hold a credit card number and get over themselves. Then they informed us that they don't ACTUALLY have a tennis court on the property but that we could "play" out on the blacktop. Oi.
So we went out to the parking lot where there was a basketball hoop to hit balls. It was pretty hilarious actually. Chasing balls everywhere, and being fanatical about it because if we lost anything, they were going to go bananas and charge us crazy amounts.
We had a lot of fun though! :) We're crazy people - we can have fun anywhere!! (The most hilarious thing about this whole story is that later in the week, Kelli went down to the front desk to try and get change to use in the washing machine (which were coin-operated). She asked the front desk where the nearest ATM was on the property and the girl said "What for? You can just use VISA anywhere!" Kelli wanted to say "first of all - none of your business what i need cash for. and secondly - YOU are the ones that require cash....tennis racquets ring a bell? Washing machines? HELLO!" It was pretty funny!)
Callie loves her Uncle Chris!
David is SO enjoying reading the Narnia books to the boys. That was Josiah's spiritual gift (the Narnia books), and they were looking forward to seeing the newest movie (Voyage of the Dawn Treader) when it came out. David has great memories of his sister Sharolyn reading him these books as a young boy, and it really developed in him a love for reading. So this has been a very special thing for him to continue with the boys and they are loving it!!
A little Wii Cycling anyone?
Josiah randomly was sick today and went to bed early. Jacob took Kelli on and introduced her to the world of Wii sports. Anything that's competitive, Kelli's willing to go all in for!
can you see Jacob's face? He is DYING laughing! :)

Tuesday Fun!

We decided to keep Tuesday a little bit more low key. Everyone was ready for a little relaxing, and Kelli & I were ready to give our babies GOOD naps at their normal times finally! :)
Another round of Disney Cranium...
Callie did some "school" with Tutu - she sat and did the WHOLE workbook! Just kept turning the pages and wanted to do more! :) Reminds me of how Josiah was at that age...

It's always storytime with Aunt Kelli! That's what happens when your aunt has a Masters degree in Reading and is working on a Ph.D.!!!

Mom got Joseph and Caleb these little cell phones and the boys had a ball with them!
What's up Joseph?
Pretty much heaven, right Mom? Cup of coffee. On vacation. Two little grandbabies climbing around you. Pretty good stuff :)
We had ice cream cones for dessert - and it was Joseph's first one! He was a fan!
Caleb already KNEW he would love it!

Bath time!

No big day trips or adventures today - but lots and lots of fun just the same! :)

Fort Lauderdale Museum of Science and Discovery

Our adventure of the day on Tuesday was to head up to the Museum of Science and Discovery in Ft. Lauderdale. We had a TOTAL blast - all of us! There was something for everyone - and we loved it! We thought we'd stay for a couple of hours, then head home for lunch and naptime. We ended up staying all morning, having lunch there, and then watching an IMAX 3D short movie before heading home mid afternoon! What a blast! I LOVE places like this - hands-on, educational stuff that my kids just LOVE learning about!
Who doesn't love bubbles? :) There was also a big boat next to this that Joseph LOVED playing in. Funny thing about it is that he kept throwing all the toys over the side of the boat - and Kelli says that is true to real life! He's constantly wanting to throw things over the side of their sailboat! :)
Wherever water is, Jacob wants to be!
There was this huge staircase/climbing tree thing that Caleb loved trying to get up and down!
Can you hear the ocean? There were 2 more floors full of fun, but it was one of those places where you were fully engaged all the time. LOTS of people there, we had lots of people with us - so we were all trying to pay attention...thus, the lack of pictures :)
After a few hours of fun, we had lunch downstairs at the world's most expensive Subway in the museum (where the sign says "sorry - we do not participate in the $5 footlong). Seriously, I think our lunch was more than our admission tickets! Anyways, we ate and then headed out front to let the kids run around a little bit and see the water before it was time to head back in for the IMAX show.
Mom conquered the outdoor maze :)

Even Caleb was trying to follow the big boys - his balance is pretty good actually!

The boys in front of the museum entrance - there was this huge clock tower "thing" that had rolling balls going all the way through it (think "mousetrap") - but it was some scientific "thing" that really enabled it to keep time! Pretty impressive - sorry for my lame explanation :)
These bolts were magnetized so they would stick together and you could build the most amazing towers. A few of my kids would have stayed here all day long! We had a blast!

Presents...one last time!

Since the babies (Joseph and Caleb) went to bed before we opened Christmas presents, they still had THEIR gifts to open! So it was Christmas time again! :)
Caleb was super excited about the golf set that Chris and Kristen got him (see him pointing to the ball :) )

Joseph LOVED the play food that we got for him (Callie was VERY excited about this - she said "now Joseph can play with me!" :) When Joseph was at our house in October, he LOVED playing at Callie's kitchen with her. So Kelli and Scott got him a play kitchen for Christmas, and we got him some food (of course - I'm the foodie!) to go with it! :)

How does everyone know Caleb so well? Some balls from Scott & Kelli...
I wonder who got a hold of my camera for this one? At least it proves I was there!

We ended the night with a big game of Disney Cranium. We have the original Cranium game and LOVE it. Mom got our family the Disney version for Christmas and it was SO much fun! It was awesome to be able to play a real game that Josiah and Jacob could FOR REAL be a part of! We're a big game family - that just spells vacation to me - so I LOVED this! :) Definitely a highlight for me.

The Florida Everglades

After GOOD naps for everyone, we were ready for our afternoon adventure - the Everglades! :)
None of us had ever been (well, I think Kelli had been to some part of it with a school field trip when she was teaching) and so we were excited to check it out - it's sort of historic! Let's just say this was a "different" part of Florida!! This is the building out back by the parking lot, and it was lined with peacocks just hanging out all over the porch!

There was a cold front that had come through, and it was VERY windy that day, so we had to bundle up. Trying to get a picture was a little bit...ummm...impossible.

We loaded up on the boat tour with hopes of seeing a gator! David had Caleb and Jacob
Mom had Callie....and I was sitting with Josiah (sorry no picture to prove it). It was a great airboat ride, but alas, no gator sightings. :(

When we got back, they had a little gator show and the (paid) opportunity to hold a baby alligator. I knew I'd have one taker in the bunch for that!!
See Callie hanging all over David's arm? She thought her brother was nuts! Look at the smile on Jacob's face! :)
He LOVED it - and would have held him all day! That thing probably weighed almost as much as he did! It was heavy!!! (And the little flimsy black thing around his mouth didn't make me feel all that much better!)
All of a sudden, Callie decided she wanted in too!
...and she decided to ham it up for the camera a bit! I think she likes making Tutu nervous!
After the gator show, we headed up to the deli area to eat some fried gator, but we were 2 minutes too late! They had already closed for the day. So they gave us directions to a little hole in the wall around the corner. This was the sign out front...
...and here's the biker bar that we sent Scott up to order us some fried gator bites to take home with us! You can't go to the Everglades without trying some gator!!!
It was a BIG hit - i knew Josiah would love it...
even Jacob, my picky one, loved it! said it tasted like chicken! :)
yep - she loved it too! came with a spicy dipping sauce (sort of like a spicy ranch dressing i guess) that she liked too!
and another fan...
yep - joe loved it too!
yes - that's my baby with a mouth full of gator!!
